Shipwreck Ruins Littering the beach is the ancient ruins that brought the ancestors of the strays to Africa. The once slave ship is now itself enslaved by long cords of seaweed and calcium. Barnacles cling to the wooden sides, waiting for high tide to come again. Occasionally you can find a fish unlucky enough to still be inside when low tide comes in. It makes for a quick meal. Some say it is a romantic place while others say the shipwreck is damned. Who knows?

Isolated Island A short ways out into the sea is a small island. Circular and only about one mile in diameter, it is fairly easy to cross. At low tide a small land bridge shows, letting any dogs pass over to the island in about five minutes. At high tide, the water is about ten feet deep. A healthy dog could swim the mile between land and the island in around five to ten minutes with no trouble. The island itself is barren with almost no wildlife. It houses a small cave on one end.

Wild Bush Farther inland, past the beach, the land turns into savannah. Grass grows right up to past your head while acacia trees sparsely dot the horizon. Lions and other predators lurk the deep undergrowth. It be best you don't step out here alone.

The Scroll Caves Sea caves dot the cliffs that line the beach. Some are small, only about ten feet or so going in, while others criss cross under all of Africa. It earned it's name because of all the writings etched into the walls of these caves. Some were made by humans long ago, and some were made by dogs. Lovers came to scratch their names into the rock, or enemies came to grind their names pledging their hatred for each other.

Pit Bull Ravine Pit Bull Ravine. Named after the breed of dogs notorious for their temper, this is where legends were made... and were finished. The ravine is about a hundred feet wide while the walls climb up several hundred feet. A small creek runs through it, a foot deep at it's deepest place and around five feet wide at it's widest. Once or twice during the monsoon season, the creek will swell tremendously, making it dangerous for any living thing down here.
Here is where fights are settled. Over a mate, over food, or over territory. This is where it all happens. |
